Collection of Personal Data
United for a Fair Economy gathers personal information, given voluntarily, in order to allow people to do such things as subscribe to electronic and print publications; provide feedback to UFE on its work; purchase goods and services; and make donations to the organization.
The information we gather allows UFE to do such things as process donations and orders; acknowledge and keep donors informed about the impact of their donations; and provide our audience with timely and relevant content about issues pertaining to economic justice.
Sources of such information include but are not limited to:
- Online donation, merchandise, and petition forms
- Phone, mail, and electronic correspondence
- Sign-in sheets at UFE workshops and other events
UFE also collects aggregate non-personal data on the use of our website such as statistics on what pages users visit; the referring page from which users find us; and answers to anonymous survey questions from users who agree to participate. This information is used to improve the design and strategy of our website and is not linked back to any personally identifiable information.
UFE may set electronic marking devices ("cookies") to track non-personal information while a user is visiting our site or for the purpose of differentiating between returning registered and unregistered users. The cookie has no meaning outside our site and no personal information or linkage between it and a particular user is made or saved in any form.
Dissemination of Personal Data
With permission, United for a Fair Economy may exchange contact information of our supporters with like-minded organizations in order to expand our membership. Supporters may opt-in to authorize UFE to share their information. Those wishing to keep their contact information from being exchanged may decline to opt-in when furnishing personal information to UFE. UFE supports and subscribes to the Donor Bill of Rights, developed by the American Association of Fund Raising Counsel (AAFRC), Association for Healthcare Philanthropy (AHP), Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), and the National Society of Fund Raising Executives (NSFRE). Security of Data Transmittal
Donations made on UFE’s website are secure to the fullest extent possible, We use strong 128-bit encryption through industry-standard Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology. SSL protects information as it is transferred through the Internet.
All information pertaining to UFE supporters is also protected off-line. Access to our databases is password protected and is restricted to personnel with legitimate, job-related functions to carry out.
